About the GPA Calculator
A grade point average is a credit-weighted mean of your grades. The weighting is the whole point: universities use it to stop a single hard 4-credit course from counting the same as a light 1-credit elective, and employers and graduate schools read it as a single comparable number across very different transcripts.
Working out the term figure by hand is where most people go wrong, because it is not an average of the letter grades you can see. You have to convert each grade to grade points, multiply by the credit hours, total both, and divide. That is exactly what this calculator does, and it then folds the result into your existing cumulative GPA — the number that actually appears on a transcript.
